September 20, 2025, Shanghai — The Songjiang District of Shanghai hosted a “Scientist+Entrepreneur” themed roundtable, focusing on innovation practice and ecosystem building in hard technology industries. Zhao Xi, Chairman of Guoke Xinnao (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to attend, sharing in-depth perspectives on the company’s entrepreneurial journey, development philosophy, and the challenges and opportunities of industry-academia-research integration, providing a cutting-edge view for the industrialization path of BCI technology.

Entrepreneurship Experience: A “Hard Technology” Breakthrough from Laboratory to Market

Zhao Xi reviewed Guoke Xinnao’s entrepreneurial starting point—originating from BCI technology research projects at the Shanghai Institute of Advanced Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai University, focusing on deeply integrating neuroscience and communication technology to promote BCI from academic exploration to practical application. He emphasized that the implementation of BCI technology requires breaking through the full-chain barriers of "laboratory verification—productization—market adaptation," and Guoke Xinnao’s core advantages lie in "technology focus" and "scenario-driven" approaches:

Technology Focus: Taking periaural EEG acquisition as a technological breakthrough, developing China’s first BCI earphone prototype supporting precise analysis of 4 types of emotional values: focus, relaxation, anxiety, and excitement, achieving a balance of low power consumption and high integration through non-invasive electrode design.

Scenario-Driven: From BCI games (e.g., SSVEP-driven box-pushing game) and BCI cars (digital twin track simulation system) to digital health (e.g., Alzheimer’s early warning), the company always targets “solving real needs,” exploring cross-disciplinary integration in education, healthcare, consumer electronics, and other fields.

Industry-Academia-Research Integration: Challenges and Opportunities Coexist

When discussing industry-academia-research cooperation, Zhao Xi frankly addressed existing key issues:

1. Technology transfer barriers: Scientific research results often focus on laboratory scenarios, requiring “pilot platforms” (e.g., Shanghai Gaoji 60 Center) to verify their stability and reliability in complex environments.

2. Lack of standards and regulation: As an emerging field, BCI lacks unified technical specifications and medical certification systems (e.g., IEC 60601-1), leading to long product cycles from R&D to commercial use.

3. Market verification difficulty: Consumer-grade and medical-grade scenarios have significantly different requirements for product experience, safety, and cost, requiring a balance of multiple needs during technology iteration.

He also pointed out core opportunities for industry-academia-research integration:

Policy and ecosystem support: Relying on the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor’s “R&D—Pilot—Mass Production” system, and the “hard technology incubator” resources of Shanghai 6G Xintong Zhigu Future Industrial Park (e.g., “Six Pole Star Communication” incubator), enterprises can quickly gain access to technology verification and industry docking channels.

Cross-disciplinary collaborative innovation: Cooperations with universities (e.g., Shanghai University), medical institutions, and communication enterprises (e.g., Quectel and Yuanxin Satellite) provide possibilities for combining BCI with cutting-edge technologies such as 6G and XR.

Scenario-based demand driving: By participating in actual scenarios such as SSVEP competitions (BCI car digital twin system) and digital health projects (emotional state monitoring earphones), enterprises can more precisely locate technology improvement directions, accelerating the leap from concept to daily life.
